At 17, I wasn't sure what medium I wanted to be in but I knew I wanted to act. Being a Delhiite, films were a very distant idea.
That world seemed so inaccessible and almost unreal. Any time I got to myself, I would stand in front of the mirror and play out different scenes. Sometimes I'd play more than one character! I've also held television remotes and shampoo bottles, pretending they were awards and given my thank-you speeches. In my breaks from studying for my Class 12 boards, I'd find time to do all this nautanki. I used acting to purge my real emotions. If I was sad, I'd do a sad scene. If I was excited and happy, I'd play up those moods. I had no reason to, but I believed in hopeful way, that I would be an actress. And today, I am. That's my greatest accomplishment - fulfilling my biggest and longest dream!
