Shan's Love Story- Grab It!

Shan is a very famous and talented singer in India and has been hosting a lot many shows on the Indian Television but his solo album “Love Story” is more like touching some ones heart. In his over decade long career, Shaan has sung number of memorable tracks. While being a regular in the Bollywood scheme of things, he is perhaps the only mainstream playback singer who also cuts his pop albums on a regular note. A compilation of some of his favorite tracks finds its way into an album titled 'Shaan's Love Story' which comprises of 12 songs. Originally heard in the film RAKTH, 'Kya Maine Socha....One love', marks the beginning of the album. The song was used as an item track picturised on Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu in the film. A rocking track, one can almost imagine hysteria of sorts if it came in a film today, considering the super-star status that Abhishek enjoys. A fusion track featuring both Shaan and Blue, 'One Love' is sheer fun and deserves a repeat hear even if it has been years ever since it was heard first. Shaan gets into a multi tasking mode as he sings, writes and composes 'Tum Jo Mile', a true blue pop number. In the times when rock genre is being accepted in a big way, 'Tum Jo Mile' is nostalgic of sorts since it makes one sneak into the pop world after quite some time. A love song, 'Tum Jo Mile' moves at a decent pace and is the one to be played on in the night due to the soothing feel it brings along with it. Call it an irony of sorts but in spite of the song being titled 'Bhool Ja', one can hardly forget this song which made waves when it was heard first a few years back. Composed by Ram Sampath, who just met with some good success with his album 'Sona', 'Bhool Ja' is about forgetting the past, wiping off the tears and looking forward to a bright future ahead. So what if you may have been spurned in love once, the remixed version of 'Bhool Ja' that appears in the album makes you see the world for all its beauty and happiness. It's Blaaze who kick starts 'Na Kehna Nahi Aata' with his rap. A number with an element of jazz to it, it also touches upon rock'n'roll of the 60s and sets your feet tapping. With a retro feel to it, once can almost imagine a Hrithik Roshan dancing to the steps of Farah Khan in this fun track that could have just walked into any film with a feel-good appeal. There is a distinctive country feel to the song 'Tishnagi' which comes next. The song is a great asset if you are in mood of a long drive as it has a melodious flow with a great rhythm attached to it. Lyrics are way different from the kinds that you hear in routine Hindi movies or for that matter even number of Indi-pop albums. Shaan is effortless in his rendition as he changes the pace and pitch at number of junctions in the song. A kind of track that has gone down well with the youth brigade. If it is an album by Shaan, how can one even imagine it to be without 'Tanha Dil'. A song which is his most popular ever, 'Tanha Dil' with music by Ram Sampath has an eternal appeal to it which makes it sound so melodious, touching and heartfelt years after it was heard first. Ditto for 'Gumsum Ho Kyon?' which can never turn stale even though dozens of albums may come and go. If you have been a lover of Indi-pop, chances are blreak that you may have missed out on this oh-so-sweet number by Shaan. It's time to get seriously romantic with 'Aksar' which moves at such a slow pace that you almost feel guilty if there is any interruption of sorts around you. Most soothing track of the album so far, 'Aksar' also boasts of some very good poetry that takes you through the journey of a guy who can never forget about the one he has loved most in his life.There is a haunting feel to the way 'Chand Akela Hai' begins as the sound of a female rendering in an oriental style is heard in the background. Proceedings move in an extremely slow manner which makes one stay tight and wait to hear what would happen next. One of the best tracks of the album so far, it is a surprise that 'Chand Akela Hai' hasn't been heard much, though it is a pleasant surprise to hear something so fresh and new. A slow moving track, it is a number that deserves to be given a very close hearing. Same is in the case of 'Haan Kabhi Tum' which arrives next and sweeps you away with its subtle and mellow feel. Yet another winner! A slow moving number, 'Shuruaat' is a philosophical number with a message embedded in it about a better world ahead. Lyrics are not of a kind that could be sung around the town due to their heavy duty nature but Shaan's efficient singing makes it worth a hear. 'Take Me To My Heart' which closes the album has just a guitar in the background with Shaan completely taking over the proceedings. An ideal gift for your loved one, 'Take Me To Your Heart' is a kind of lovey-dovey melodious songs with beautiful lyrics [both in English and Hindi] that lits up the atmosphere while sitting across a bonfire. Go for it. 'Shaan's Love Story' is a must buy for those who have always loved the singer for his smooth'n'silky voice. There is not a single dull moment in the album as a consistent mood is maintained from beginning till the end. This is a compilation you wish to lay your hands on!
