Rabbi Shergill chose to stay away from Bollywood

rabbi.jpgChandigarh: Karachi Valie song, which was dedicated to the girls of Karachi by Rabbi Shergill, a renowned singer, could not put that essence in the song as the Karachi authorities rejected his visa to shoot the song in their country. Rabbi Shergill informed this on launching of his new album ‘Avengi ja nahin’ at PVR cinema, Centra Mall in Chandigarh.
“Through picturisation of this song in Karachi, I wanted to give traditional local touch as I had put my feeling in the composition,” he said. The composition of a song is not just a pack of rhythms, poetry and singer as picturisation of the locale also enhances its impact, Rabbi said.
It is a mystery for Rabbi that why his request of shooting this song in Karachi had been rejected by the authorities. After the long wait of more than two months, he was disappointed on refusal of the visa. “I believe that officials are extra conscious of the security of their country,” Rabbi said. Commenting harshly on reality shows, Rabbi said these shows were exploiting art and artists. “For me, singer is not a person who can just sing well, but he is a package of composition, melody and singing.” The reality shows had set restricted criteria for singer to sing well and not concerted its composition and music.
“I do not match with demands of Bollywood industry. That’s why I am quite away from the industry,” Rabbi added.
When asked how he was feeling to be awarded by Sikh council, he remarked that he is proud to elate on receiving the prestigious award.
