While actresses like Bipasha Basu and Lara Dutta have brought out fitness DVDs, Deepika Padukone doesn't want to jump on to the bandwagon.

A fitness addict, she believes in the 'eat healthy, live healthy' mantra. Deepika is keen to give personal advice to anyone who comes to her, but doesn't want to make it into a marketing exercise. She says, "I keep getting asked if I will ever come out with a fitness book or a DVD, and the answer is No! I feel that while I am more than happy to sit someone down and answer their fitness queries, I can't make it into a commercial project." Deepika who works out with fitness expert Yasmin Karachiwala claims her new work out regimen has brought tremendous changes in her body. "It's all about strengthening your core, and Yasmin makes sure I work out like a maniac!"

It's a love story which develops on Facebook where the protagonists change identities to make their partners fall in love with them. "I am Preity in the movie who lives with Malvika, hates Vishal and loves Rahul. But, on Facebook, I am Malvika who is trying to make Rahul, who is actually Vishal, fall in love with me," says Saba. Facebook is a widely accepted and popular medium of communication today. People all over the world are meeting each other and falling in love over Facebook. "Today's youth spend a lot of time on Facebook. You are constantly connected to each other through so many things like BBM. People meet each other online, many of them even date online. My friend actually met his to-be bride on Facebook. He still hasn't met her face to face and will be meeting her directly at the wedding," exclaims Vishal. Mujhse Fraaandhip Karoge has a fairly new star cast but comes under the Yash Raj umbrella. When asked about how they prepared for their roles, Tara said, "We had to attend a month-long workshop where we were made to rehearse. By the end of it we knew not only ours, but each other's lines as well. We really understood our characters and became very comfortable with each other." SRK and Ranbir Kapoor seem to inspire them. "I really want to improve myself. I am inspired by stars like Amitabh Bachhan, SRK and Ranbir Kapoor. I want to become like them once day. I am sure I will improve with my next film," says Nishant. The movie looks very young and so the stars often found themselves looking into their own lives for inspiration. "I feel the ways our lives have been till now, our college experiences, the fun we had back then. We drew inspiration from all these things," adds Saqib. The stars of Mujhse Fraaanship Karoge come with big dreams. This movie, being their debut, they plan to work in a lot of different kinds of movies along with other things. "I want to surprise myself. I want to act in more movies but I want to also do a lot of other things with it. I want to travel, start my own cafe or a shack, and become a waitress. As far as movies go, I want to do intelligent roles where one has to apply oneself. I feel that commercial cinema today has a lot of scope as well for smart films and I want to be a part of them," says Saba. The movie releases on Friday, October 14.

In my breaks from studying for my Class 12 boards, I'd find time to do all this nautanki. I used acting to purge my real emotions. If I was sad, I'd do a sad scene. If I was excited and happy, I'd play up those moods. I had no reason to, but I believed in hopeful way, that I would be an actress. And today, I am. I like it that I can constantly be in touch with my friends and promptly respond to all my emails through my cell phone. Even as I kid, I always liked the idea of owning a 'personal' telephone. Whenever the phone would ring, I'd run to pick it up. I loved chatting on the phone with school friends too.

I did own one gadget, too. It was a videogame my father gave me on one of my birthdays. I remember waiting for him all day and looking up at every plane that flew over my house, as daddy was coming from another city with my video game. Well that's a different story that my brother later robbed it from me.

Gadgets I wish existed...
I think there should be a dog treadmill. I know it sounds ridiculous, but there's no space for animals to run in the city. Parks, already limited in number, are mainly for humans. Dogs need to exercise or they develop medical complications later. So, a dog treadmill at home would be perfect for my three dogs to exercise and be fit.
And I would love to have a gadget that would translate every thing animals say. What a revolution that would be! For once we can forget about human luxury inventions and do something for living beings that can't talk us. As told to Saadia S Dhailey

Ironically, your patience is completely worn out by the first half, which believe it or not, is entirely used to shoot a Punjabi wedding sequence. Okay, DDLJ also used the entire second half to conduct its famous wedding, but remember, there was Shah Rukh, there was Kajol and there were lots of twists and turns in the story. Here, there's nothing, except the growing attraction between two couples: Dia Zayed and Cyrus Tisca.

In conversation with Sonil Dedhia, Dia talks about her personal experiences of love, break-ups and zindagi, the man in her life -- Sahil Singha, who has also directed the film and her experience of working on her maiden production.

You recently said that whoever said that opposites attract is an idiot. Why did you say that?

I think certain things were relative when I made the statement. In today's world the dynamics of a relationship have changed. The level of compromise that two individuals are willing to make in their relationship has changed. It's no longer about being rich or poor it is the values that matter and if you can't find a partner who has similar values, it is difficult to walk the path together. That's why I say opposites might attract but only temporarily.

Are there a lot of similarities between you and Sahil Sangha?

Oh yes, the first thing that you want in a partner is a connection and more than anything else, it's a mental connection. It will be a little extreme to say that we complete each other's sentences, but I really think that we have a similar train of thought. The reason we connect is because the way we want to live our lives is very similar. We are not here to change each other and I think at a certain level a relationship is about complementing each other.

So, for Dia Mirza, a relationship is about complementing and not compromising?

Absolutely. Because life is filled with compromises. Why should one do that with a very integral part or decision of life?

Like any other teenager at 17, I too was going through an acne phase. Even though I have inherited good skin from my mother my pimples refused to fade away!

y mom instructed me to start my day with a glass of warm water, honey and lemon with good 2-3 litres of water throughout the day. I still follow this routine till date and has helped me a lot. Unlike my friends, who were busy trying out a lot of things on their skin, I preferred going natural. I used a special sandalwood pack for my face for which I had to go all the way to Dadar to get a stick of Sandalwood. In summers, to tackle my tan I used yogurt, lemon and haldi. For my hair, I put a mixture of eggs, pepper and lime and do it till date for that extra bounce and shine. Coconut water was my all time favourite in the summer months which kept my skin hydrated all day long.

Vidya Balan exhausted

It had been all work and no play for the latest screen sensation Vidya Balan. The actress who is grabbing eyeballs for her new sizzling avatar as that on Silk Smitha in 'The Dirty Picture' said to have been in hospital recently.

Talks are that Vidya was admitted to Lilavati hospital (Mumbai) following frequent headaches, loss of appetite and exhaustion. The actress had been quite involved in the project and constant shoots proved to be very stressful for her. Due to this, Vidya started feeling rather dizzy and restless and so her parents took her to hospital. There she was reported to have kept under observation for three days and was diagnosed with having a low haemoglobin count.

Vidya has now been discharged from the hospital but doctors have strictly advised her to have complete rest for a week. According to sources, 'The Dirty Picture' still has about five to six days of filming left and Vidya's unexpected break is delaying the shooting schedule. Although the makers of the film are calm over things, the delay poses to be danger for the release of the film which is on November 2.

You are working with John, Akshay and Arjun, let us us in on some secrets about them Arjun is the most dedicated person I have seen. He does his home work and is on set fully prepared for the scene. John has been around for a long time and is some one who I can run to for advice. He's extremely helpful and genuinely cares for you. Akshay is a school of work in himself and I think he has the best body in the industry.

Are you open to item songs? Item songs are great fun, but I haven't got any that has excited me. Recently I was in a dubbling studio and this guy comes and offers me an item song. It was so random, if at all I do a song there would be a lot of thought that would go in it. I genuinely love dancing so if some one had to offer me a good song I would definitely jump on the opportunity.

You haven't made any friends in the industry. Comment. I dont think I can be friends with anyone so soon. But I am extremely fond of Shrishti (Arya) who's producing my next film. She's a very special friend and extremely close to her.

Are you friends with Deepika ? I really didn't shoot with her that much. But I am friendly with her sister and we bond over golf. Her mom is also extremely warm. I would love to know Deepika better.

Do you consider yourself as a sex symbol ? No, I don't. I know it might sound very cliched, but I find many faults in myself when I look at myself on screen. But it's definitely a good thing if people have that opinion.

At 17, I made the sudden decision to come to India in search of a career. I was studying engineering in London at that time, but my heart wasn't in it. I wanted to give modelling and the glamour industry a shot.

Once I'd made up my mind, everything was a blur till I landed in Mumbai. I wasn't anxious or apprehensive about being in a new country as it was like an adventure to me, plus I arrived with my eldest sister Christine. Initially, I did feel slightly overwhelmed - Mumbai is a bustling city, full of energy. We rented a small apartment in Bandra and I met photographer Farrokh Chothia. There was no pressure to succeed at that point, so I'd go for auditions and find myself auditioning with 50 other models. That year shaped what happened in my life.

I met many wonderful people then, like designers Rocky S and Ana Singh, some of whom I still call friends today. It was an important year of discovery in my life - my 17th year. I was in love with Mumbai and felt a sense of belonging here. I thought maybe it was because of my Indian heritage (my father being Indian). Till then, I hadn't been in touch with him much as my father wasn't around too much when I was living in London.

My mom never advised me against modelling or joining the film industry. She just wanted me to be happy. Of course, she was concerned about my safety when I was living alone in Mumbai, so often she would fly down to be with me.

I used to eat a lot then. I wasn't fat, but definitely heavier than I am now. I remember eating homemade chicken curry, especially dal-rice, as it was tasty and inexpensive. It was an exciting phase for me. After Christine left, mom came down for a little bit. I also met Reshma Shetty then, who is my brand manager today. At that time, she and photographer Atul Kasbekar were running a company together. Alison Kanuga was a model coordinator and took me under her wing. It was then that I met Alvira Agnihotri - at an exercise studio. I was struggling to do some steps on an exercise machine facing the wrong direction and Alvira helped me through it. That broke the ice. I met Salman Khan a year later and things changed forever.

Barely months after getting together, Bipasha Basu and Shahid Kapoor are no longer an item. The break up, if you can call it that, happened about two weeks ago - just after the release of Mausam and before Bips left for Greece for a shoot. The reason? Apparently Shahid became increasingly indifferent to Bips after the initial excitement of meeting someone new waned.

A source reveals,"Bipasha takes people at face value. Although they were only just getting to know each other, she was keen to see where things would go with Shahid. Post her break-up with John, she wasn't in a hurry to get into another relationship. She was wary of opening up to someone new, but took a chance with Shahid as he really pursued her at the start."

However, friends and acquaintances who hung out with the seemingly cosy twosome knew the courtship would be shortlived. The source adds, "They're like chalk and cheese. Shahid is quite controlling, while Bipasha is a free spirit. After the initial high, Bips realised Shahid was slowly distancing himself from her. She's not the sort of woman to do things in half measures or stay with a man who does anymore."

The final straw was a minor fight that took place before Bips took off to Greece. "She was quite upset when it was over, as she didn't think it would be so soon. It’s a website called www.grouphomebuyer.com that went live yesterday, which aims to help citizens buy their dream homes in a locality of their choice, and at a discounted cost.

“Having a house of their own is everyone’s wish but given the sky-rocketing costs today, it’s fast becoming a distant dream. Market observers have cautioned that real estate purchases and sales have dipped. So, we thought we could become catalysts for buyers and sellers,” says Shilpa. The company will make bulk purchases in various developing properties, and offer them to buyers at a decent discount. “Bulk purchases are always cost-effective. So, we are using that idea here,” she adds.

She refused to board a flight to Delhi when she learnt she was being 'downgraded', forcing producers of her forthcoming film Mod to cancel the promotional event to be held in the capital. A source explains, "Unfortunately, the sponsor for the event backed out. But as the publicity was done, the producers decided to go ahead. They made the bookings themselves for the cast and crew.

Given the time of the event, they could only manage to get seats in the economy class of a low fare airline."Director Nagesh Kukunoor and co-star Rannvijay Singh were to join Ayesha on the flight. However, when the actress learnt about the bookings, she balked at the thought of flying economy.

"She just didn't want to fly that way and decided to opt out. After some time, the producers decided to cancel the event," adds the source. Strangely, Rannvijay didn't get the message about the cancellation on time, and so he headed to the airport early morning to board his flight.

"He had to make calls when he didn't sight anyone at the airport. That's when he learnt the event was cancelled," says our source, adding that the VJ-turned-actor decided to go to the capital any way. And most of the routes pass through Delhi, so I have been visiting the capital a lot. I've stayed here all this while, and for me, Delhi is a beautiful city. But when the traffic starts, it's like Mumbai. It is one of them most majestic cities I have been to. Back home, everything is much smaller. But this whole openness is the beauty of Delhi, which I enjoy. And I like the food in Delhi."

As the conversation steers from her likes to her dislikes, especially with respect to her personal relationships, Genelia tells us that she doesn't like using her personal relationships for building her own brand. She says, "There's nothing derogatory or defamatory written about me and it's because I have maintained my relationships in a certain way. Tere Mere Phere: Movie Review

'I can't stand hysterical woman', shouts the hero. 'I can't stand arrogant men', screams the heroine. Sadly realization strikes the lead couple pretty late in the film. The viewer cannot stand their sight or sound after the first ten minutes and lose hope much early in the film.

If there was ever an award for the most cacophonous couple ever, the screechy Sasha Goradia and the whining Jagrat Desai would undoubtedly win the title. The duo scream, shout, yell, yelp, moan, groan, grumble (add all possible noisy synonyms) to an extent that they could give the torchbearers of loud slapstick cinema (like Priyadarshan, Anees Bazmee) a run for their money.

Rahul (Jagrat Desai) and Pooja (Sasha Goradia) are on their Himalayan honeymoon in a travel trailer. Imagine a romantic getaway in a self-driven caravan? And by no means is this a road movie! Tere Mere Phere is a wannabe attempt on the lines of 'Vinay Pathak brand' films like Chalo Dilli or Bheja Fry 2 about an incidental journey between two strangers, their contrasting chemistry and Pathak's co-passenger being victimized by his eccentricities. Just this time, it's Vinay Pathak who is at the receiving end and the contrasting chemistry is between the married couple.

Three days since their marriage, Rahul and Pooja are at loggerheads. Jai (Vinay Pathak) is aboard their caravan in a desperate attempt to reach ladylove Muskaan (Riya Sen) before she gets married off to someone else. But Rahul and Pooja's constant bickering gets so irritating (literally) that you don't blame Jai in losing faith in the institution of marriage by the climax.

The gist of the film comes from the theory that 'men are from Mars and women are from Venus'. And so focused is the film towards its central idea that it has nothing else on show but the constant clashes between the couple. The basic flaw of the film is that it attempts to discuss a lifetime of men-woman compatibility issues merely through the course of their week-long honeymoon. Clearly it bites off more than it can chew. So their quarrels are exaggerated to the extent that it irritates you incessantly.

It's certainly not a flying start for the film, as things go terribly wrong in the very first scene, where commotion ensues on an aircraft as if it were a fish market. Hereon there's no looking back. Actor-turned-director Deepa Sahi gets the grammar of slapstick filmmaking accurate, ensuring decibel levels never go down and pandemonium persists. The consistently amateurish and deafening performances of both Sasha Goradia and Jagrat Desai only add to your trauma. Jagrat Desai also doubles up as the co-writer with Deepa Sahi to ascertain that the script is as much dull, dreary and dreadful.

The comic timing of the entire film is out-of-sync and every joke falls flat on its face. Weird as it may sound, the couple bond over common hangovers, are sexually stimulated by breaking chinaware and their verbal mudslinging turns literal by the climax. Vinay Pathak seems to be on a head-banging spree. Moreover the film runs rampant in its final reels, turning into an endless exercise. Even the tranquility of the scenic Himalayan backdrop won't help you make peace with this chaotic cinema.

Enough has been spoken about Jagrat Desai and Sasha Goradia (though not as much as they jabber in the film). Vinay Pathak has been overdoing his underplayed act. The best that Sushmita Mukherjee does is gorge on rasgullas . Co-producer Anup Jalota can't resist a (dismal) cameo. Rohan Shah irritates. Thankfully Riya Sen is in a special appearance!

Tere Mere Phere makes for a perfect anti-date film. Watch it if you dare a date with distress!

It all started with Atul Agnihotri, Salman Khan's brother-in-law going public about his intentions to make a biopic on Rajinikanth. There were also talks that Salman would play Rajini in the biopic. This hasn't gone down too well with Soundarya Rajinikanth, daughter of Rajni, who is a filmmaker in her own right.

While she has tried to contact Atul several times to discuss the matter, she claims that she hasn't got any response from the filmmaker, who now claims that Salman Khan was never being considered to play Rajni.

Soundarya also maintained that a biopic on her father was not an affair to be taken lightly and that talks with the family were extremely essential if anything was being done about it.

I take my job very seriously, that is, acting. The actor had said, “It becomes very difficult to have the same set of people around, as you are constantly on the move. Doing a film takes up so much of your time. Yes you do make friends, but sometimes that changes as well.”

With only a few days left for his much talked about film Love BreakUps Zindagi to release across theatres, the debutant director has a lot going on in his mind. However, his voice definitely does not have any trace of nervousness at the fact that in this film, he is not only directing a handful of experienced actors from Bollywood, but also his lady love, Dia Mirza who has more than 30 films in her kitty herself.

Instead, in his recent media appearances and public events that he has attended, he has handled questions about his personal and professional life deftly. So when Sahil sits down for an exclusive chat with IBNLive, it comes as no surprise that this young man does not shy away from discussing the most intimate matters of the heart.
In a recent interview, Dia was quoted as saying that the date is already set for your wedding. Is that true?
Sahil: Yes I have heard that but that's not true. No date has been fixed yet. Marriage is something that happens when it has to happen. If marriage is the natural progression, it will surely happen. But, both Dia and I have not set any timeline.
Both, you and Dia are extremely candid when it comes to discussing your relationship with the media. Has it been a conscious effort?
Sahil: Honestly, I don't think there is any reason to hide our relationship. We both choose to be a certain way. The most important thing is that we both believe in relationships. We are also very transparent to the media. Today's young generation is no longer coy just to admit to having a relationship. I am a very private person but I am not ridiculous about it. Otherwise, I will be behaving like a 16-year-old (smiles).
You have been dating Dia for a while now. Did you see her in a new avatar while working on this film together?
Sahil: She is more hardworking than I thought. She works with a lot of love and attention. But she has OCD (laughs hard)... It's only what women can do...She needs to make sure all her pencils are sharpened! (pause) She makes sure there are fresh flowers in office all the time. But what I noticed most is that she really exudes a lot of warmth.
As a debutant director, what have you learnt while making this film?
Sahil: For anybody in this industry today, you need to learn to listen. When you are an actor, you need to listen to your script. When you are a director, you still need to listen. In 'Born Free', (Sahil, Dia and Zayed Khan's production company) we all have learnt to listen. If we listen to one another, and as long as we keep our minds open, we will benefit!
Every film these days is going into a promotional overdrive. Is it the same with Love BreakUps Zindagi?
Sahil: What is happening currently is that viewers are all spoilt for choice. With the TV, Internet and the number of films releasing every week, there is so much more to communicate to the audience. We have also tried to engage the audience in a special way. We are releasing a series of videos on the Internet about how Love BreakUps Zindagi was made into a film. We are very active on Facebook. There is a good and strong buzz around the film and we are very happy.

Betrayal by one you love is really tough: Bipasha

Actress Bipasha Basu talks about her toughest scene so far... By far the toughest scene I've ever done was for Rituparno Ghosh's film Shob Charitra Kalponik. I had to break down, when I realised only after my husband Prosenjeet's death that he betrayed me.

Betrayal by the one you love is really tough. And this girl I was playing had no living person to challenge, counter-question and hurl recriminations at. Her betrayer was dead! I basically had to get bitter about an idea rather than at a human being. So I did whatever I could. I recalled how deep a betrayal my character had suffered.

My character realised that her husband had used every bit of her character, feelings and even incidents from her life in his writing. She realised his Bangla poetry was just a replication of what she used to write in English.

I thought of all of that in the breakdown scene .I couldn't stop crying, even after the scene was over. I had to fall back on memories to get the emotion right.

I was playing the bread-winner of the family, while my husband was a poet and a dreamer. He never took his responsibilities as a husband seriously. He even had an affair. And my character wanted to leave him. But post his death, my character begins to listen to his poetry and she falls in love with her dead husband.

Then when she feels betrayed, I had to return to a state of disappointment I felt during the marriage.

The breakdown that followed was the toughest scene of my life. I couldn't have done it without my director Rituparno Ghosh. He helped me reach into the recesses of my subconscious where I had never been before.

Ali Zafar in London, Paris, New York

Rose Movies and producer Goldie Behl along with Fox Star studios announced their upcoming flick London, Paris, New York here on Wednesday. The film stars Pakistani musician Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao and has been directed by debut director Anu Menon.

The film is a romantic comedy and it's a story about a couple who fall in love while visiting three of the most romantic places on earth; London, Paris and New York. "The story is very fresh. We have tried our level best to make it as realistic as possible. It deals in different emotions that people experience when they're in love. It is believable because it also talks about the pain and suffering of heartbreak," said Goldie.

The title is simple and says a lot about the movie. When asked about its significance, Ali Zafar said, "The title is an integral part of the film. It provides a backdrop to the love story and helps in portraying the characters' journey of love. It's all very natural and realistic. The movie is about Nikhil and Lalitha, two very different people who fall in love."

The music of the movie has been composed by Ali Zafar himself. In fact both the stars, Ali and Aditi, sing well and have sung in the film.

The movie has some intimate scenes between the two actors. But, according to Aditi, it is very different from the usual bollywood movies. "The scenes are very organic in nature. They are there because without them the story would feel incomplete. We have not forced sex scenes anywhere just because it is believed that sex sells. The scenes are beautiful and are lovely to watch," says Aditi.

The cast and crew just got done with the London chapter and if the chemistry shared between Ali and Aditi is anything to go by, this could be something to look forward to.

Raima Sen is happy being single

It's a matter of great concern and I feel that it's high time we did something about it," she says.

Missed Messi in kolkata
Raima made it to Delhi, but she couldn't be in Kolkata for the recent FIFA friendly match there. "I was so busy shooting that I missed the Messi match in Kolkata. She has been linked to cricketer Yuvraj Singh, but has denied the reports. Raima tells us, "I'm single now and trust me, I'm very happy being single. But that doesn't mean that I won't fall in love or get married. I would definitely want to settle down soon. Unfortunately, I haven't found my Mr Right yet!" And what sort of guy would he be? "I want my man to have a sense of humour. He should be someone who can make me laugh and smile all the time," she says.

When you do a film you get involved in it. For the next three months that unit becomes your family and then once the film wraps up, that world ends. Yes you do make friends, but sometimes that changes as well.”
While she still relies on actor Salman Khan and turns to him for advice, it seems like Kat has found a new BFF in Ali and the duo has managed to keep in touch even post their film.
A source close to Ali says, “Ali treats Kat like a younger sister. He looks after her and makes sure that she is well taken care of. His wife too is very fond of Katrina and looks forward to meeting her.”
Recently, Ali threw a party after the film’s success and invited the entire cast and crew. Katrina was obviously on the list but she had to leave for Dublin on the same day and wasn’t sure if she would be able to attend the party.
“Katrina was to fly to Dublin that same night. But, since Ali had made a special request, she came to the party for a while. Ali, who was very happy to have her around sang a song dedicating it to Kat, before she left. She in turn had a big smile on her face all through the party. Mausam delayed, now releasing Sep 23

Much-talked about film "Mausam", which was scheduled for a Friday release, will now hit the screens across the globe Sep 23. The decision has been taken to avoid fragmented release, said Shahid Kapoor, who plays the lead role in the film.

"We are here to announce the changed release date of our film from Sep 16 to Sep 23. The reason for this is that we had applied for two permisions - a NOC (no objection certificate) from the IAF (Indian Air Force) and certification from the censor board. We got U-certificate from the censor board, but IAF gave us a conditional certificate because they wanted a 30-second scene from a particular sequence to be corrected," Shahid told reporters here Wednesday.

"They wanted a tiny little detail changed. Because the scene required computer graphics, even a small change requires a lot of time. That is why it took us so many days to make the correction. We got the NOC last (Tuesday) night," added the actor. "Mausam", a romantic film, is Shahid`s father Pankaj Kapoor`s directorial debut and in the film Shahid plays a fighter pilot and is seen "flying" a fighter.

"Today we are ready for India release on Sep 16, but we wanted the overseas release to fall on the same date. However, when we send the prints overseas, there is a particular time before which we have to send the prints. Because we got the NOC last night, we couldn`t send the overseas prints. We want the release to happen globally on the same day, so we have changed the release date to Sep 23. We don`t want a fragmented release...," said Shahid. The romantic saga will see Shahid falling in love with a Kashmiri girl, played by Sonam Kapoor.

Although she plays the 'other' woman in Ranbir Kapoor's life in the movie, Aditi Rao is strangely missing from the trailer of Rockstar. The actress is apparently trying her best to conceal her disappointment.

Says a source, "This was not what was promised to Aditi. She was always meant to be the second lead, like Ali Zafar in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. And see how he has been projected in all the publicity of the film."

Ali had stipulated in his contract with Yash Raj Films that MBKD would be projected as a three-protagonist film and that Ali would get as much prominence as Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif. To his credit, Aditya Chopra kept his word.

Now here comes the interesting bit. Ali, who has been shooting with Aditi for their new romcom together in London, Paris and New York, has been advising the actress on how to not let anyone take her for a ride professionally.

"I am really happy for Ali. He is brilliant and I am a big fan of his. I don't know why I am not in the trailer of Rockstar. I'm sure they (director Imtiaz Ali and the producers) have a good reason.

I've figured out that it's better to concentrate on work, focus on the positive rather than feel bad for myself," says Aditi.

She is, therefore, giving her best to the project at hand with Ali. "That project is within my control. I can only hope for the best rather than dwell on what I don't have." There is no doubt that he is Bollywood’s biggest superstar, but carrying off the persona of a superhero needs a tad bit more than stardom and money. Here are the many reasons why we think SRK might not be able to fit the superhero part:

Shahrukh claims that he is doing this film for his son but his son himself feels that SRK is not cool enough to be a superhero! The lad prefers SRK’s good friend Hrithik Roshan instead. We are quite sure that Aryan is looking forward to Krissh 2 a lot more than his daddy’s RA.One! Since Hrithik has already established himself as the Indian superhero, Shahrukh would have to double his efforts to get noticed. Well we are quite touched with SRK’s special gift to his son and hope that it lives up to his expectations.
Shahrukh Khan is probably the most damaged (read injured) actor in Bollywood at present. Sure at 46, the actor is still at the peak of his career, well if Amitabh can at 69 then Shahrukh definitely can. But the actor has been going through several treatments for innumerable injuries and for some rather dislocated and broken parts of his body. His previous stunts and action sequences have taken a toll on him and he has had to take several breaks to deal with broken ribs, knees, elbow, ankle and shoulder.
No one denies the efforts Shahrukh has taken for his pet project but does everything have to be inspired from Hollywood? His costume minus the blue addition looks inspired from Iron Man. He flies like Krrish and Superman and probably uses Batman’s batmobile. What we really want to know is: What is it that G.One (SRK’s character in Ra.One) can do, that other superheroes can’t? We’d ideally like to come out of the theatre with our minds blown away with his unique superpowers instead of constantly comparing him with other superheroes, don’t we?
Shahrukh started the trend of six-pack abs with Om Shanti Om (albeit with some lighting effects!). And he continues to cash in on the phenomena with RA.One. Methinks it’s quite obvious that SRK has taken the help of SFX this time around rather than waste all those extra hours in the gym in a bid to attain a toned body.
Honestly, yours truly is waiting with bated breath to see if SRK manages to live up to all the hype he’s creating for his ambitious sci-fi flick. And let’s hope that King Khan is able to set a new superhero benchmark!

Actress Shazahn Padamsee, last seen in Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, says she will shed her cute look and exude oomph in her next, Housefull 2.

"My look in Housefull 2 is very glamorous. I think lots of people see me as young and cute, so in this film I am going to up the oomph factor little bit," Shazahan said at a programme of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2011.

She will be seen opposite Shreyas Talpade in the Sajid Khan directed multi-starrer. Shazahan made her debut opposite Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor with 2009 release Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. It was followed by Dil To Baccha Hai Ji.

The box office scenario of 'Mere Brother ki Dulhan' is still ambiguous and it's very early to speculate anything about Katrina Kaif's position on the number podium. However, Katrina was and will remain one of the top heroines of the tinsel town, at least for another couple of years.

MBKD shows Katrina as a bidi-smoking damsel who can cause distress. She seems to be undergoing a conscious image change from her porcelain doll avatar in earlier films.
More or less, Katrina has played an arm candy till now. 'Boom' is better forgotten; in fact Katrina should be awarded for not denying doing 'Boom'.

The role of the suave Pooja in 'Sarkar' did not have much meat, and people noticed Katrina in the film only because she was a famous model.
'Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya' featured Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen primarily, but Katrina was there to dance. Her vacant expression was reminiscent of an actor who has forgotten her cue.
Surprisingly, she started to make her own fan base right after this film. Kaif's link-ups with Salman fetched her more attention than her entire PR team's effort. 'Namstey London' followed 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye' and Kaif arrived in Bollywood in the true sense.
For the first time, she was in the running for the number one slot after 'Namastey London'.
Aishwarya Rai had 'Guru', while Kareena Kapoor was seen in her career defining role of Geet in 'Jab We Met', in the very same year. Katrina was nowhere close to the stature of these two heroines, neither in acting, nor in star quotient.
Then came 'Apne', 'Partner', 'Race', 'Welcome' and 'Singh is Kinng'. Five back-to-back hits and every producer was outside her gate. None of these films, except 'Partner' had given her the chance to emerge as a thinking actor. She tried her best to look 'emotional' in the climax of 'Partner', but Rai and Kapoor, had already proved their mettle in thinking roles.
Aishwarya had 'Devdas', 'Chokher Bali', 'Bride and Prejudice', 'Raincoat', 'Sarkar Raj' and 'Jodhaa Akbar' to her credit while Kareena had 'Asoka', 'Chameli', 'Dev', 'Aitraaz', 'Fida' and 'Omkara'.
But another competitor had entered the race of number one in 2008 - Priyanka Chopra. She was glamorous, good dancer and as capable as an actor as Rai. Initially, she did not experiment much with roles and that gave her a chance to consolidate her fan base.
'Fashion' and 'Kaminey' provided Chopra the long anticipated recognition as a heroine with wide mass appeal, who can act well too. Her position gradually got strengthened. She developed into a typical Bollywood beauty with good acting skills.
The audiences were always waiting for someone as Priyanka, and critics had become bored of reviewing useless beauties. Priyanka satisfied them all.
Kareena kept doing happy go lucky characters, and thus the value of one hit film gained ascendance, because only hit film can make you better than other heroines, who are also portraying the same kind of roles.
Then, the situation became trickier, because Katrina delivered three commercially successful films out of her next seven releases. New York', 'Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani' and 'Rajneeti' brought Katrina also to the forefront.
With one Hollywood movie, 'The Pink Panther', and several Bollywood flops, Aishwarya seemed more interested in award ceremonies and her family. She was still one of the highest paid heroines but her charm started to fade down considerably post 'Raavan'.
Kareena tasted success in '3 Idiots' and 'Golmaal' series, where she had prominent roles. Kareena already had a good fan base and thus the showcase of refined acting made her a very good challenger for the top spot.
Till the end of 2010, the race for the quintessentially accepted heroine for all was tilted more or less in favour of Kareena Kapoor, despite the success of 'Rajneeti', where Katrina donned the cap of a thinking actor for the first time. This political potboiler presented Katrina in a powerful role, and she satisfactorily passed off as a performer.
'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' showed Katrina in an entirely different light. She played an adventure loving girl in 'ZNMD', who is specifically clear about the goals of life. It was not an unlikely role but it came as a pleasant surprise. Katrina was finally trying to evolve as a potential thinking actor.
But, the track was still not clear for a race between Katrina and Kareeena. '7 Khoon Maaf' got the rabbit out of the cap, and Priyanka magic swelled over the mass. A fantastic performance in '7 Khoon Maaf' placed her above everyone, as far as the acting was concerned.
Now, Kareena can boast of 'Bodyguard', which has received the highest opening of all times, but the real force behind the film is not a hidden fact.We can narrow down the race of becoming the next lady superstar to three ladies in the shape of Kareena, Priyanka and Katrina, but in reality, the battle is in between just two, Kareena and Priyanka.
Katrina might be riding on a string of successful films but she has not proved her worth as a good actor yet.
Ideally, one superstar should possess brilliant acting skills with devastating looks and courage for experimentation. Remember Hema Malini, Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit. Katrina's spotless features can earn her big films, but she will become the super star that the Hindi film audiences are looking for, only when she will come up with rare roles or fine performances to make a role rare.
Kareena Kapoor has 'Ra.One', a potential hit, in kitty but she also has not shown the guts to experiment with every film. Basically, she is conscious about her position at the box office, which will eventually stop her from taking the leap of faith towards superstardom.
Therefore, Priyanka Chopra remains as the real scion of the reigning queen's post, however, her ascendance to the throne will depend a lot on the comparative performances of her films against Kareena's and Katrina's.

Priyanka urged the youth of the country to create their own style statement by finding what suits them best. “Girls today need to wear something that suits them and not just follow the stars. Can Salman Khan play Rajinikanth?

Everyone wants to cash in on the ‘Rajini’ factor, whether it’s advertisers, producers or directors. The latest to join the bandwagon is Bollywood actor-turned-producer Atul Agnihotri, who’s keen to make a biopic on the iconic star. Rumours are piling up that Bodyguard hero Salman Khan may play Rajinikanth.

Reactions are mixed. While die-hard devotees are shocked, Sallu fans are waiting for the movie to hit the screens. Then there are celebs, who are more than a trifle pessimistic about Salman playing the superstar. RJ Shiva claims Salman Khan can do everything else, but play Rajinikanth.

“Rajinikanth is an everlasting hero, nobody can play his character,” says the Saroja Sivapoojayil Karadi star. He goes on to say that it would be very difficult for any actor to be convincing in his role.

“India won the World Cup only because Rajini sir was in the stadium. When people can credit his charisma for India’s victory, it is very difficult for any actor to justify the role. If somebody even tried portraying him… Comedy panna madri irku,” he quips.

Designer Satkrit Krishna too is cynical at the thought of Salman playing Rajini. “I have been brought up watching Rajinikanth’s films and as far as Salman goes I doubt he could handle it,” he smiles.

He adds that everyone today is cashing in on the ‘Rajini’ factor, “From movies to advertisements, everyone is involving Rajini. I am against people imitating each other... nobody can imitate Rajinikanth,” he sternly adds.

Director S. Ve. Shekar agrees.“They will say it’s a Rajini film, but it would be very difficult to get permission from Rajini to make a film on him. Salman is doing very well now, he is a very popular icon in the North, but Bollywood would never whole-heartedly accept a Kollywood star — and Rajini is a southern star.”

Enrolling Rajini himself is the best option for Atul’s biopic, advises actor Prasanna. “Salman Khan has his own style and Rajini sir has his own charisma. It will be very difficult for Salman to leave his style and adapt Rajini sir’s walk and the way he delivers his dialogues. Atul should try roping in Rajini himself or create an animated character, for it will be hard for audiences to believe it’s Rajini sir and not Salman,” he smiles.

The Oram Po director Pushkar Gayathri is bleak about the prospect of Salman Khan portraying Rajini, but thinks Atul should request Rajinikanth to play himself. “I am a great fan of Rajini like everyone else down south, but I am also a fan of Salman. If Atul wants to cast a Bollywood star, Salman is a better option as he can pull off one-liners with aplomb. However, no one can match the superstar!”

Ask Pushkar Gayathri if she can think of another actor down south who fits the bill and she replies, “But if at all Salman plays Rajini, it will be very difficult for him to keep his own distinctive style aside and adapt Rajini sir’s style!” she remarks. And that’s the general consensus...

Amrita Rao wants her identity to be undisputed on a popular micro-blogging site. And to this effect, the actress has filed five impersonation complaints recently. "In fact two accounts that were impersonating me have already been deleted by the authorities recently, and three others are under close scrutiny," she informs us.

The actress, who joined the site last year, got onto this trail after she discovered that her account had been hacked and that someone was impersonating her. She says, "I was off Twitter for a while. When I tried to log into my account three months ago, I was shocked to find that someone else was running it. The hacker was very convincing as Amrita Rao, with pictures of me on my sets or when I'd step out for an event. The ID had around five lakh followers!"

Amrita says, she just opened a new account for herself, and put up a status message about the imposter (she still has it up). "But this didn't work either. People continued to follow the hacked ID. And that's when I decided to approach the site authorities. My team provided them with my identification documents, and finally that account has been deleted. Meanwhile, I also found some more imposters and reported them as well."

The actress says she's okay if some is using her picture for as their display image, as long as they are being themselves, but she's not going to take people pretending to be her

All the speculations regarding UTV Motion Pictures and Madhur Bhandarkar's most ambitious film project Heroine finally come to an end as actress Kareena Kapoor agrees to step into the shoes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and play the lead role in Heroine.

Heroine has been facing obstacles since the beginning; first Kareena who was the actual choice for the role refused the film as she was not happy with the script and had date issues. Then Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was signed on for the film but after 10 days of shoot, she announced her pregnancy. There were talks of her getting replaced by Tabu or Priyanka Chopra. But no one was ready to step into Ash's shoes with the fear of offending the Bachchan family. Then there were rumors that Heroine was shelved.

But now ending all those speculations Kareena Kapoor confirmed that she will be playing the lead in Madhur Bhandarkar's much-talked about film Heroine. What is your style quotient?
Style to me is an outward expression of your individuality. It's an extension of your beliefs, thought processes and the person you are. It's a reflection of your moods, your biases and your experiences. My style of dressing is extremely personal. I am impressionable only to a certain extent. The rest of it is my personal concoction consisting of my favourite trends. My favourite outfits right now are suspenders, bow ties, and as always, I love quirky details. I absolutely love colour, so I love experimenting with that.

Which are the colours you prefer?
My favourite colours are purple and yellow, and I love to experiment with other colours too. Purple has been a childhood favourite and recently I feel in love with yellow because I discovered that it complements me.

Your must-have accessories.
I love to splurge. If I fall in love with a particular thing, then there's no stopping me from acquiring it. More than shopping and acquiring new things, I strongly believe in reusing and restyling vintage pieces. Luckily, my mom and aunts have a beautiful collection of vintage pieces which they gift me sometimes, and which I love to use. I have a pretty good collection of shoes and accessories.

Your idea of party wear?
I don't like to be totally 'decked up' and unrelatable when I'm going out. Although I love to dress up, a very striking part of my dressing is that it is very individualistic. I could wear anything from jeans to shorts to maxi skirts or dresses, but the styling is the most important part, ie how to team things and put an outfit together.

Your little experiments in style?
I recently wore a pair of stalkings with hearts running down the centre. Also quirky hairdos, bright suspenders, my favourite geeky glasses, bow ties, etc

After failing to convince Vidya Balan and then Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play the female lead in his remake of Satte Pe Satta, Soham Shah seems to have finally found his lady to fill in Hema Malini's shoes.

Sanjay Dutt, the producer and the lead actor of the project asked Karisma Kapoor to step in as the heroine. Karisma is reading the script and is very much interested in doing the film, revealed sources.

The source added, "Sanjay wants a very Indian looking girl. After Aishwarya refused to work in the film despite Dutt trying hard to convince her, Dutt had approached his Lagey Raho Munnabhai costar Vidya Balan. She too had declined the offer.

A few days before he spoke to Vidya, Dutt had spoken to Karisma who at the time had clearly told him that she was not interested in making a comeback."

However, since then, Karisma changing her mind about returning to Bollywood, signed on Vikram Bhatt's project Dangerous Ishq. Sanjubaba, realising that Karisma was now serious about her comeback, approached the actress again. This time, Karisma showed keen interest in the project. She is expected to inform Dutt about her decision by next week.

Katrina Kaif will be seen as a rockstar in her forthcoming film Mere Brother Ki Dulhann. The metamorphosis of the actress, better known as the Barbie doll of Bollywood, is stark. In her last film, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Katrina was seen riding a bike. Definitely a change from the Kat who looked pretty in pink.

"I live life on my own terms. And I work on my own terms. I have always done the best I could. I am not disappointed with the glamour quotient of my earlier films," says Katrina Kaif.

However, she rather loves the new 'bindaas' image. "I am too young to not enjoy these films. This is the fun side of filmmaking. As an actress, I don't see any harm in it," reveals the actress.

But being cool too has its limits. Talking about her rockstar avatar in shorts, the actress says, "Well, they aren't mini shorts. So what's wrong? And you know what, whenever I'll wear shorts, I'll ensure that I won't wear a tight tee." And unlike most rockstars, the actress who is seen smoking in the upcoming YRF film, swears never to smoke or drink on screen again. "That's not even the last thing I'll do.

Katrina however, terms her sudden change in image as growth. And giving all credit to her directors and designers Rocky S and Aki Narula, the actress agrees to the fact that people do notice her more now. "And I am thankful for that," says the actress. Deepika, Kareena end their cat-fight

Bollywood is known to be a hub of catfights, when it comes to its divas – almost all the actresses of the industry, have made news for getting into a war with their contemporaries at least once or more. However, contrary to the nature, both Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone recenlty ended their two year old rivalry at Dinesh Vijan’s birthday party.

First it was tomatoes, then sweet lime and now oranges - Bollywood's fetish with edible items just doesn't end. You saw the ZNMD team playing with tomatoes and more recently the sweet lime fruit was ordered in tons for a song sequence in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Ferrari Ki Sawari .

Now director Milan Luthria recently ordered two truckloads of oranges for a sensational song sequence in his forthcoming film The Dirty Picture . The track was picturised on Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah and shot at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.

Jacqueline Fernandez and Shraddha Kapoor were spotted in the front row to support designer Gaurav Gupta on the last day of the Delhi Couture Week. Area around eyes and cheek bones was painted. Head gears and neck pieces were used. Hair was left open gathered on one side.

B-Town Big Movie Review: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Movie: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara: Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif, Kalki Koechlin.

The trailers of “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” seemed to promise a rehash of “Dil Chahta Hai”. But one cannot be more wrong. Although there are some similarities, director Zoya Akhtar makes sure that she stamps her style. She has to be applauded for making one of the more intelligent movies of this decade.

Plot: Abhay Deol (as Kabir) is engaged to Natasha (Kalki Koechlin). His bachelor party is a three-week road trip in Spain with his two best friends Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) and Imran (Farhan Akhtar). How the trip changes their lives and each experiences his moment of revelation is what the movie is about

Performances: Farhan Akhtar stands out; he has the best one-liners in the movie and his comic timing is impeccable. The transformation of Arjun is beautifully portrayed as the first half cruises along, supported by some of the best writing in Hindi movies of recent times. Katrina Kaif plays a free spirit who shows Arjun how it feels to be alive. Abhay Deol finally breaks into mainstream commercial cinema, and he fits his character to a T. Nasserudin Shah makes an interesting cameo. The rugged beauty of Spain is captured in all its glory by the cinematographer Carlos Catalan.

There is not a dull moment in the movie and the chemistry between the lead actors clicks. The background score aptly captures the mood of the movie, although the songs are just about passable. Zoya's last movie, the underrated “Luck by Chance”, did not click with the audience but this movie might just be her break. Bottomline: Watch this movie for the writing, Farhan Akhtar and cinematography, in that order.
